Wild & Rooted: A Year of Nature Learning
Wild & Rooted is a complete year-long nature curriculum designed to guide families steadily through the seasons. It offers structure without rigidity and depth without overwhelm. This is not a collection of random activities. It is a thoughtfully mapped year of learning rooted in rhythm and connection.
It is slow by design. It values observation over output. It encourages familiarity rather than constant novelty. The aim is not to rush through content, but to build a relationship with the natural world over time.

What It Is
Wild & Rooted is a 48-week curriculum organised around monthly seasonal themes. Each month gently builds on the one before it, following the natural shifts in light, growth and energy across the year.
Every week follows a clear rhythm: Notice → Wonder → Explore → Create → Care. This structure gives you confidence and clarity while still leaving room for curiosity and adaptation.
What It Includes
Each week includes a defined theme connected to the monthly focus. There is an anchor nature walk, guided observation prompts, and structured invitations to record and respond.
Poetry and art are woven in deliberately, not as decoration, but as meaningful ways of seeing. Curated reading suggestions deepen understanding. Creative invitations allow learners to process ideas in their own way.
Literacy, science, maths, art and reflection sit alongside one another naturally. Nothing feels forced or boxed into a subject silo. Learning unfolds in layers.
Who It Is For
Wild & Rooted is designed primarily for home educating families, but it also supports interest-led and unschooling approaches that benefit from gentle structure.
It works beautifully with mixed ages because it focuses on observation and depth rather than fixed outcomes. Younger learners notice differently to older ones, and that difference is welcomed.
It can be adapted. It can be slowed down. It can be revisited year after year. Nature is never the same twice, even when the structure remains steady.
Root Deeper
Each month includes a Root Deeper focus. This is not something to complete and move on from. It is a thread that runs quietly throughout the month, encouraging repeated noticing and growing familiarity.
Inside the Wildflower Learners Substack community, paid members receive a fully developed Root Deeper Project booklet each month. These booklets expand the focus with additional structure, reflection pages and deeper study invitations.
Root Deeper is where observation turns into relationship. It is where rhythm becomes ritual.
The Root Deeper booklets can also be purchased individually in our Wildflower Learners section.
The Curriculum & The Community
The curriculum can be purchased and used entirely on its own. It is complete, coherent and carefully structured.

However, Wild & Rooted was always designed to exist alongside a living community. The Wildflower Learners Substack provides weekly aligned emails that follow the curriculum themes, offering context, encouragement and seasonal reminders.
Paid members also receive exclusive monthly Root Deeper booklets and access to a supportive subscriber space. The curriculum provides the framework. The community provides accountability, depth and connection.
Together, they create something steadier and richer than either alone.
